An exceedingly rare Khaki Crowned example worn by all Officers of the Guards during WW1, this example worn by Captain Walter Clarkson Mumford 2nd Bn Irish Guards Wounded 15th March 1917, Having earlier in the war won the Military Cross on the 14th November 1915.

 

Captain Mumford was known to Rudyard Kipling who mentions him in several of his books and letters.
