Of Historical importance, The 1847 Pattern Officers Helmet worn by Lt William Hartop Royal Dragoons who Charged with the Heavy Brigade Balaklava 25th October 1854.


Lt Hartop received his Crimea medal from Queen Victoria at Horse Guards in May 1855


Interior featuring old labels “Full dress helmet.... worn at Balaclava. Given by Mrs Hartop” and “Helmet of the Royals worn in Crimea..... replaced by one of silver and gold. RUSI”. Good Condition, retaining approximately 50% original gilt (minor cracks and distressing to skull). Plate 66  Note: this 1847 pattern helmet was worn by Lt William Hartop (Royal Dragoons) at the Charge of the Heavy Brigade, Balaclava 1854 and deposited at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) by his mother.
